Understand In-App Notifications and Mobile Push Notifications

Learn the difference between alerts inside VR SPORT and notifications shown by the mobile device.

In-app notifications

  • Stored against the VR SPORT account in the notifications service.
  • Available from the dashboard bell.
  • Maintain read and unread status.
  • Can open a related app screen when a destination is configured.

Mobile push notifications

  • Available only in the installed native mobile app, not the normal website experience.
  • Require device permission.
  • Use the device token registered for the logged-in account.
  • May appear while the app is in the background or closed.

Why the two may differ

A notification can exist inside the app even if the device blocks push alerts. A push can also be delayed by connectivity, battery restrictions or notification-service configuration.

When you select a push

The app can use destination data supplied with the push to open a related screen. If it opens only the app home screen, use the dashboard bell to find the corresponding in-app alert.

After logout

VR SPORT resets the local push-registration state. The next logged-in account registers again when its account identifier is available.
