Deactivate, Reactivate or Archive an Academy Group

Pause a group temporarily, restore it later, or archive it permanently.

Open lifecycle controls

  1. Open the Academy group.
  2. Select the group header to open Group Information.
  3. Scroll to the group-management controls.

Deactivate a group

  1. Select Deactivate group.
  2. Review the confirmation.
  3. Confirm the action.
Note: Deactivation is reversible. The chat becomes read-only and is hidden from regular members. The Academy owner can find it using the Deactivated status filter.

Reactivate a group

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Set the status filter to Deactivated.
  3. Open the group and its Group Information.
  4. Select Reactivate group and confirm.
Note: Reactivation makes the group active and visible to members again.

Archive a group

  1. Open Group Information.
  2. Select Archive group.
  3. Review the permanent-action warning.
  4. Confirm the archive.
Note: Archiving cannot be undone. Members no longer see the group as an active conversation. The Academy owner can review archived records using the Archived status filter.

Program and Batch lifecycle

A Program or Batch group can be paused when the linked program or batch is deactivated. The thread explains whether the group is paused because of the Program, Batch or a manual administrator action.

Duplicate-group protection

A deactivated group continues to count as an existing group for duplicate prevention. Archive the old group only when a permanent replacement is required.
